No more WD Raptors?

I guess SSD has taken over. I'm looking for a backup drive and I thought I'd look for a WD Rapton. I guess they've gone the way of the Dodo(?) Somebody slap me and wake me up.

Yeah you can get them. Often see the 500 gig models in stock.

I have several old 500gb hdd's(since 2k6) that have retired to the storage locker as my main backup systems.

HDDs are probably better cold storage media, that's what I do sometimes in addition to my Raid1 NAS.

Right now its either NVMe SSDs or a large HDD with an Intel Optane drive, 32GB.

Kinda sad WD didn't carry the Raptor name over to the SSDs, but Samsung is winning on that front anyway.

I have 4 Seagate ironwolfs combined with my other 8 WD Enterprise drives in my NAS. Been running them 24/7 in a pretty active environment. After seagate left abad taste in my mouth many many years ago, I'm pretty happy with these drives. Will buy more as the WD Enterprise drives need to be replaced (up to 52TB usable)
