I have a friend who I play daily with. The internet connection is all good and so on, but the super long distance is a truly big problem, and ping of 270 the only menu.
Is there anything, any related tweaks, that would help lesser the symptoms of high ping, help improve the overall connection of that user? Or will the usual tweaks help?

The gaming tweaks listed on the main site should help a bit, but nothing can reduce latency caused by distance because packets are bound by the speed of light. That is why satellite communications add 240+ms latency (round trip time), for example.
