Internet drops, possible packet loss/jitter?

Hello everyone.

I recently downgraded from VDSL 50/5 that synchronized in around 29/1 to ADSL 24/1 that synchronize around 13/1 (Values are Mbps). Reason i downgraded was that the price i was paying didn't justife the quality of the connection although that was a bit expected since i'm 1.5km away from the center and i was told that VDSL performs well if i'm less than a km from the center.

What i mainly use my internet is gaming so i don't really care about speed as long as i have low ping & no disconnects.

So with that downgration i noticed two things.

1. Ping reduced in a certain game from ~85 to ~73 which is good :thumb:
2. Sometimes i lag so much that the game is unplayable while the ping remains at a low value. Also sometimes causes my Internet to drop while playing that game but otherwise, when browsing the connection seems to be fine except 1 day that i had my router dropping the internet after of 1-2 minutes of use but the other day it was ok. :crash:

Now i will give you all the information i can think of. I'm not that experienced with networking so i could use your help in order to find a solution.

After the day my Internet was unusable even for browsing i called my ISP and they told me that the problem might be in my part so they changed my Internet profile so it would (not sure?) reduce the disconnection chance but also reduce the synchronization of the router to lower speeds (not sure?). I think that's possible by increasing the SNR of my connection (not sure?).

Now the Internet drop while i play that certain game is random. It could be 1-2 days of it being fine and then it could be unplayable. Timing of the problem is also random because it also happened during midnight where the traffic is low. Weather condition is not the issue since the weather is fine right now and the problem still exists. My ISP already sent a technician that couldn't fix the problem and i also called a electrician that concluded that the problem was my old telephone jack which he replaced & told me that the cable that goes outside of the house (dunno the name) is new and shouldn't be the problem. I also replaced my ethernet calbe and the adsl cable that connects the router to the telephone jack. The only thing i hasn't tested is replacing the router because i don't wanna spend money on something that might not be the problem and both the ISP technician & electrician told me that shouldn't be the problem. But the problem is still here and i'm pretty dissappointed and exhausted about it :(

Settings & gear information.

Thanks again for reading this and every litte help would be appreciated.

Sorry about the late reply, seems I missed this.
There is very little you can do as far as software tweaking on your end, most likely it is your DSL connection that is the problem. You can try rebooting the modem to see if that makes a difference. Some DSL modems on iffy lines can have their connection degrade over time (some "channels" desync, they get removed and never added back). I've even heard of people that connect their modem on a timer to restart it every night to avoid this.

You are correct that there are settings that your ISP can tweak to make it sync at different rates. Your best bet is probably to talk to them again...
