Just got a WD RE drive was surprised by how heavy it was, is it made stronger because of it's speed?

Everything about them is better.
More sturdy case, better sound isolation, vibration isolation, and heat dispersion.
Thicker circuit board with better grade circuitry on it
Better bearings....way better bearings, large and more powerful heads and magnets
Higher quality platters with smaller radius and they are denser.

I was really on the fence with the red and the SE, stuck with the SE for warranty and RPM. MTBF wasn't an issue for me since the drives are spun down after 1 hour of being idle (13 drive array, individual drive spin ups based on disk containing data accessed.)

But I totally back the red's for long term and NAS storage
