The bad first a friend of mine got hold of an old dell dimension with rambus ram i had it working dropped it off . It Starts beeping saying there is no ram. What's odd is all the diag lights show green execpt the one on the back that has two yellow and the rest green according to dell it's a memeory issue. I bout 4 new sticks and it's still acting like no ram so any ideals would be great...

New battery and clearing the cmos does notthing so any help would be grret.

I'd start with reseating the RAM, and making sure it's inserted in proper matching pairs. Assuming you got memory that was specifically certified for that model computer?
Remote one pair...make sure you put back the blank plates...and test one pair at a time.

Will try that yeold this machine is taking up alot of my time lately.. I hope i have those test plates..

"Continuity module" was the name of those blank plates...I was forgetting. Basically, in the old RIMM systems you couldn't leave memory slots "empty"...either had to have memory sticks in there...or it not, those continuity modules. They look like an empty memory stick.

hmm I don't know what to add to this conversation. I know the memory has to be in certain slots but there is also something in the bios I think that had to be changed...not 100% sure.

those chips you purchased were prob expensive, maybe more money going into this than what new computer is worth cause it sounds like you've covered everything you can. I'd part it out and tell him to take the money and buy something new.

You have to add the modules in pairs. If you can't fill the slots you'll need continuity modules. Waste of time IMHO. Just get a new PC.
