Recently I bought a new computer with windows 7 home. Just a note I am disappointed with windows 7 for several reasons. One problem I have is I see no way to use my current fax machine with this operating system. I have a HP 6210. Is there any way to use an all in one/fax machine with windows 7?

It depends on the hardware in question and whether there is a driver available for windows 7. My HP Deskjet F4100 all in one works just fine in Windows 7 Home premium x64. Mine doesn't have a fax though. If you can't find a windows 7 driver try a Vista driver if it has one. I used the vista driver for my old Brother HL-1230 laser printer.

My all in one all works except the fax part. There is no icon any place in windows 7 to do a fax with a stand alone. Irritating

Have you tried "Windows Fax and Scan"?

I don't know if its in the Home version or not though, I would think so.

Just pull up the start menu and type in fax.

Contacted HP yet to see if there is a "hot fix" for it or what they suggest?

Well I am not interested in windows fax and scan. I have a stand alone and what it to work. The fax and scan requires a fax modem and I am not interested in installing one. Also HP knows about the problem but has no fix although they still sell these things. It has to do with this new operating system and HP and there is nothing fro them to date. I was hoping that there was a third party work around that someone knew about who has come up with a fix.

Dunno then, its a risk with old devices when a new OS comes out.

It is not an old devise, some places are still selling these machines. I am afraid that HP has dropped the ball.

The device is several years on the market, thus "old hardware" per industry standards.

Did you install the drivers from HP or drivers provided by Windows or Windows Update?

To fax without a fax modem, i.e. use the 6210 modem, you'll need the HP Fax & Scan software. It's on the CD that came with the product but likely won't install on Windows 7. But you could search the newer HP models at their site for the Fax & Scan software in the event that software does not get installed with the driver bundle at the HP site.

Yes...get one that is supported by your operating sytem. Are you using 32 or 64 bit Win7?

run it in a virtual machine maybe, or buy a new product

These were my next suggestions... maybe network it through a junk machine in which you can remote in from the Win7 machine etc etc..

Sad, but true..

NVM windows xp mode is not an option for home premium.

You could possibly use a Linux Live CD if that sounds like something you would want to tackle..
