Cox Communications has begun offering Internet speeds up to 50 Mbps to residential customers in the Tulsa area, the company said Wednesday.

Cox’s high-speed Ultimate Internet tier is powered by its cable-exclusive DOCSIS 3.0 technology, which allows providers to combine Internet channels in a new way to offer faster speeds and more robust features, Cox said. The Ultimate Internet tier offers downloads up to 50 Mbps and uploads up to 5 Mbps, it said.

“Cox is committed to bringing our customers the latest in technology advancements, including DOCSIS 3.0,” said a Cox spokeswoman, Christine Martin.

Great, but what is it going to cost?????????

Probably along the lines of other ISPs' high end packages, 100 bucks or so.

I just upgraded a clients branch office to that a few days ago over in Rhode Island....I didn't even know what speed package the client signed up for, as they were getting off of Verizon DSL. Did the benchmark..was shocked to see the upload shoot to 9 megs.

$100 ala carte is about right for the 50Mbps service.

Our local cable ISP finally started rolling out Docsis 3 equipment, so their speed increases should be coming soon. The 15/2 package at our office, business connection, $349/month. Can't wait for Docsis 3, with nearly 20k mails per day filtering through our SPAM setup, we're bogging down. U-Verse not in that corner of the town until next spring.
