BIOS flash the motherboard in case it has a known false positive SMART alert issue with some drives.
Run Seagates diagnostic utility, avail from their websites support/download section.

Cat, Under smart check, short drive check and long drive test for my sata HD all failed. My 70 GB passed. I am assuming I can RMA it because it is only around 1.5 years old. Can I?
Should I still try bios flash mobo?

Doesn't sound good.
Depending on the model, may have a 1 year or 3 year warranty, can check via your serial number on this page

I know with the western digital hd's the serial number shows up when you run the utility to check the hard drive.

Do you think I can get a replacement one?

So that link shows it's a model with a 3 year warranty...
And you stated you purchased it around 03/2009
Lemme go get my calculator and some scrap paper to do some math on...
//comes back in a few minutes.
Yup I'd say it's still under warranty and you should be able to get a replacement. I'd start a while ago by going to that warranty and returns assistance page that I gave a link for up above...enter in your information, and get the ball rolling on a replacement. It's a very quick and easy process.

Just a note about some of the Seagate drives:
Some of them were going bad, I think there was a recall a while back. Something to do with the drivers writting on to the negative part of the platter (where the firmware is stored).
I'd RMA the drive asap. Haven't personally had any experience with RMA drives from Seagate, but my guess is that they'll send you back a refurb / recertified drive.
