Terrorist ties to Fox News?

Wonder how Fox news will spin this one? :rotfl:
The opponents of the proposed Cordoba Initiative Islamic center planned for Lower Manhattan are fond of suggesting, by way of lengthy and often confusing chains of causation and association, that its principal planner, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, is connected to terrorism. "The imam has been tied to some shady characters," Fox Business Channel's Eric Bolling recently said, "so should we worry that terror dollars could be funding the project?" Blogger Pamela Geller, who has become a regular talking head on cable-news channels to denounce the mosque, has noted Rauf's involvement with a Malaysian peace group that funded the group that organized the Gaza flotilla under the headline, "Ground Zero Imam Rauf's 'Charity' Funded Genocide Mission."

On last night's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart skewered these antics as a "dangerous game of guilt by association you can play with almost anybody," and proceeded to tie Fox News to al-Qaida by connecting Fox News parent News Corp's second-largest shareholder, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, to the Carlyle Group, which has done business with the bin Laden family, "one of whose sons — obviously I'm not going to say which one — may be anti-American." But Stewart didn't need to take all those steps to make the connection: Al-Waleed has directly funded Rauf's projects to the tune of more than $300,000. If Fox newscasters can darkly suggest "terror dollars" are sluicing into the Islamic center's coffers via "shady characters," then are Al-Waleed, and News Corp. leader Rupert Murdoch, by the same logic, also terror stooges? (The "Daily Show" video appears after the jump.)

And not to stir the pot or anything..I'm just researching Carlyle Group which from what it seems is kinda hard not to be in some sort of contact with.
The firm employs more than 890 employees, including 495 investment professionals in 20 countries with several offices in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia; its portfolio companies employ more than 415,000 people worldwide. Carlyle has over 1300 investors in 71 countries.

Seems rather hard to avoid something that was already taken care of about 9 years ago after it came in to light anyway.

Ohh and for the record, I can't stand watching FOX news... I'm a CBS evening news fan myself :D

A good start to a better discussion.

Think of it like this, private companies shaping public opinion.

Murdoch is one smart man...he's able to make money by supplying the ignorant masses with...more ignorance!!!!

No need to be bitter just because you support a company with ties to terrorism.

Speaks volumes that you ignore the evidence and instead go the troll route. Unlike you I actually offer up conversation without all the BS. Facts are facts and suffice it to say Fox news has egg all over it's face.

Do you have anything on topic to say? Perhaps, instead about Roody, something about Foxnews?

I think it is a sad that we let the terrorist effect us this much.

Money can be traced to all types of dirty places; I don't think it is a very valid criticism of the mosque or of Foxnews.

But this attack, some have lunched, on the building of the mosque is very disturbing. To up hold freedom of religion for all, we must allow the mosque to be built.

9-11 was a tragedy, but we can't let a terrorist attack compromise our Constitution. This is how terrorism works; by attacking the soul of the people. And if we let emotions cloud our thoughts, to the point that we, ourselves, disregard our own Constitution, then what is the point of this “War on Terror”?

There isn't anything to spin here. A company can't control who owns its parent companies stock. If anything, it says a lot about them that they're willing to criticize the second largest shareholder of its parent company. Should NBC check the interest of another individual/organization before it criticizes them? Playing 6 Degrees of Separation is fun but it doesn't make it news. Also, this is pretty old news.

Actually there is a lot there. This is the same news company who has questioned the patriotism of the President. They have openly fed the birther movement and questioned if he was muslim. They play any angle they can to make the President come across evil and all while have their #2 stockowner being Imam Rauf.

Fox news is pathetic.
