What's the best LCD TV?

I'm interested in a 37" LCD TV. The four brands I'm thinking of are Sony, Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, and possibly Visio.

Everytime I've been in the store glancing at them I would rate them in order... #1 Sony, #2 LG. You will pay a premium for a Sony though.

They rated Sony LCD TVs very high at amazon.com, and I was interested in an open box but new and unused 37" Sony but changed my mind. The picture quality is awesome but they say they often have issues and buyers returning them. Sony used to have mixed reviews about their DVD and CD players too, so I guess that hasn't changed. The saleslady said you pay for the name.
Both retail stores I went to today said LG & Samsung are their best TVs. I'll probably get one or the other. Thanks for replying.
