I keep getting this error when trying to install any OS...this is the picture i get after booting into Linux Mint 9 KDE. It works fine as a live disk until I try to install the os onto the hard drive. It will let me go all the way to the end and right as it reaches 100%, i get this:

I have tried:
different known good HD's
different ram
Different CPU
Different DVD_roms
Multiple OS disks

I'm trying to figure out what is initializing differently when the os finishes loading that might be causing this.

Model of laptop is HP DV2214US

Where did you get the new MB? Is it identical to the old one as in model number?

Sava, The board was purchased from a dealer on Ebay  , and it is identical

YOS, I don't think it's a driver issue...It's more of a hardware issue, it did it to me one time while I was in the bios.

I think this is my fix and if i had seen this before I might could have just repaired the original board. :irate: :irate:

Ok let me say this, last time I tried to replace a mb for someone that they purchased on ebay something wasn't right with it. It was missing the speaker wire hookup but still didn't work. I'm willing to bet you got scammed with a defective board. I wouldn't go any further on this and just get your money back asap.

I tried the above for the original board and it worked perfectly :)

I'm shipping the defective board, that I received from eBay, back to the seller.
