Theres the always redone BF, COD, Crysis, and other war types. Then the WoW like games, and then some random select titles.JawZ wrote:PC gaming is all but dead. Sucks.
yeah its a great benchmark.. I got it the day it was released and played around for a while.. even with a 9800GTX+ it looks pretty awesome!
Whats killing PC gaming is those like Infinity Ward whom killed Modern Warfare 2 for PC with all there (no dedicated servers, small amount of players vs players and so forth... ). With PC prices and speeds really cheap now and really low I think they will bounce back rather well consider how much a console game is and how those like Xbox/Microsoft really started hammering people who were modifying their systems to play copied games even if they were their own copies.JawZ wrote:PC gaming is all but dead. No dedicated servers is fine. A well implemented peer system, or a sudo dedicated system like ID Software is using for quake live can be very good.Sava700 wrote:Whats killing PC gaming is those like Infinity Ward whom killed Modern Warfare 2 for PC with all there (no dedicated servers, small amount of players vs players and so forth... ). Not having Dedicated server ability is horrible... not sure what your thinking here. No matter how you slice it, its a bad move by Infinity Ward to not include it.YARDofSTUF wrote:No dedicated servers is fine.
And they've already hacked it to get deds. The reason why I say its fine is because it doesn't hurt players, only those that host servers. Without dedicated servers, as long as the features are built in right, there will be no loss of control/enjoyment.Sava700 wrote:Not having Dedicated server ability is horrible... not sure what your thinking here. But your missing the point here.. having dedicated servers allows groups, clans and so on to use it as a recruiting tool.. or a place for members to meet up and so on. You have full control of it to monitor and maintain some sort of order..these are the roots that PC Gaming was built upon since the Quake 1 days and without strong roots in which Infinity Ward is removing you have a major gap for PC gaming to build upon. At least EA/DICE is taking notice and focusing on the PC gamers needs with battlefield games plus the integration of DirectX11 hinted in BF3.YARDofSTUF wrote:And they've already hacked it to get deds. The quakelive setup I think is the perfect mix, allowing you to spawn a server in a different location anytime you decide.
But you can still have clans and places to meet without dedicated servers. Even in a peer based situation you can have players given rights to have an admin like control over the game.Sava700 wrote:But your missing the point here.. having dedicated servers allows groups, clans and so on to use it as a recruiting tool.. or a place for members to meet up and so on.
