Hi Guys and Gals,
I am currently in the process of networking my house.
I currently have a DSL connection.
I purchased a D-Link DES 1024R ethernet switch, to giv me more access points for all gizmos that i can connect to the internet.
I also have from my original setup a Netgear WGT624 v2 wireless router.
My plan was to hard wire everything, but have a wireless connection to save putting a ethernet point into the living toom as the wireless is in the cupbaord next to the living room.
Currently, i am having issues with anythign connecting wirelessly or hard wired except my main pc which has connceted ok.
My current wiring setup is as follows:
cable into modem
Crossover cable out of modem into switch into port 23
Straight through rj45 cables out of ports 1 & 2, port one goes to my main pc, port 2 goes to my wireless router.
My wireless router has been connected to the switch using the internet port in the back of the router, not the computer ports.
When i try and connect my wifes laptop wirelessly or hard wired it connects with limited or no connectivity at all.
My question is, what have i done wrong? is it possible for me to conncet my wireless router like how ive done it? do i need to reove the wireless router all together?
I cannot gain access to my router to check the settings, i turned off dhcp server as i thought that could be the problem and it clashing with the switch. Ive tried resetting to factory settings yet i still cannot connect to the router. - I have now gained access to my router using a crossover cable from the switch to the router using a normal computer port, not the internet port. Lapto now connects with full conncetivity, but cannot view webpages?
Im completely stumped as to why one computer will connect but another wont?
Thanks for you help and i hope ive detailed anough for you.
Edward
