I need a computer for under $500 with a 8800 gt or better. I'm sure I'll have to buy the gpu seperate, I just need a computer with good specs and a gpu within my budget. I've found a lot of computers, I'm just looking for the biggest bang for my buck. Thanks guys!

How about this deal. Parts sustained some smoke damage from an attic fire I had, but I've got the motherboard folding right now and haven't had any heat problems with it for the past week. Has a Pentium D cpu 3.0GHz and 4GB (2x2GB sticks) of DDR2 RAM. Then it will hold 4 PCI-e GPU's, but I'd recommend 3 cause otherwise it gets pretty crowded. I've use 3 8800GTS cards since and they fold just great. Didn't have cooling problems with them with ambient temp of 74F.

Does not come with case, power supply, hard drive, cd/dvd, or cooling fan for cpu.

Mother board and 3 eVga 8800GTS video cards for $225.00.

Let me know.

Tks
Rick

You have yourself a deal! I'll be able to send you all the info & funds on the 28th. So what kind of ppd does it pull?

Each of the 8800GTS's should avg around 2,500 each day. And 2 versions of regular folding will add around 500 ppd. So should be 8,000 or more.

Let me know how your going to pay. I have a Paypal account as rickoic@windstream.net

Or you can send check or mo to:

Claude, Tx 79019

Happy folding

Have the set up and an 800 watt psu,320gb sata, new hurrican case. Though the motherboard doesn't want to turn over. You know if the board turns with a dead cpu.

8800gts 3x all in great shape!+

With dead cpu you should get lights on the mb, but nothing else, it will not post or anything. I thought I had that problem and then I found out I had forgotten to plug in the 8pin cpu line from the power supply.

Also, check the RAM sticks and make sure they are seeted good. They would also be a likely canidate. Could have gotten close to some magnetic something during shipment and gone bad. If you have some know good ddr2's give them a try.

It works! I think I had a ground issue on one side. I ended up taking out a few screws and it roared to life. I have two 9800 gt's ready to start folding as soon as the os is installed. Feeeewww

Hey guys. Looks like the deal's done but would happily vouch for either of you.

Rickoic, I used to work with this guy :D

Chris, thanks for helping, I was just looking at the Fat Dogs stats and noticed they sky-rocketed the past couple of days :D Was going to email you to see if you added something new and saw this thread first.

Hope you're doing well. Make sure you stop by the store next time you're up...after 3 on weekdays of course

Anything for cancer research, thanks man. I'm actually working on 2 other machines, the first is a core 2 dou, 3x 8800 gts. The second one is a 9800 gtx sitting in an 18 inch barebones shuttle case, barely fit.

Also Just installed a gtx 260 in my old machine.

I'm taking my brother up there shortly, so there's a good chance drop in(after 3)

My brother some how killed all my machines!

My brother came into town a couple weeks ago, and after the first night all three machines were down. No need to worry! It's only an os issue, and I have windows 7 on the way. By tonight I should have my gtx 260 back up and running.
