I'm not following computer hardware like I use to. Can someone please give me a brief rundown of the major differences between the two?

A good article I found earlier this morning as I went to learn about the Nehalem cores and how they now work with memory controllers on the CPU instead of the chipset...as I'm working on an VMWare server project.

Basically a new more affordable line of i7 processors came out (as you may have noticed, the first i7s that came out over the past year were quite cost prohibitive), as well as the entry level i5.

Thanks,
In the meantime I found a review of them at benchmarkreviews and they pretty much covered it for me. Your answer seems to be the general consensus. I'm just trying to get up to speed and start understanding some of the new technology for a build that I plan around Christmas.

They both now seem to be quite attractive in pricing, unlike when I was pondering upgrades last fall.
