Too early to tell..gotta give it a while to show steady performance. They really ramped it up for the upcoming release, the last AV-Comparatives article it edged both of them out a tiny bit. Been doing very well at other reviews too.

Time will tell, I suspect it will do quite well. I suspect it will become the best free AV for sure.

The one compliant people have so far, no logging feature. But again, it's still just BETA...will be final soon though.

But the BETA release hit it's 75,000 mark..it's over for now. Keep checking.

On the Windows 7 Ultimate rig I have running on an old P4 HyperThread 2.8 with 2 gigs of RAM, it's using 40,800K.

While a tad on the heavy side...it doesn't feel too heavy. If it's detection rates are top notch, cleaning ability top notch, totally free and nag free....seems to even out the package well.

It hasn't been announced but it is speculated sometime around the official release of Windows 7 in late October.

Shouldnt if you set it to the highest settings, Avira finds more than Avast.

I actually went from NOD32 to Avira and have been happy with its results and performance.

Always did, found Aviras detection rates a bit better, and I had far far far too many complaints from end users about their systems running slow/bogged down when I would put Avast on their machines.

QFT! Running 2x (or more) antivirus programs at the same time on a computer, not good for stability, real time protection of each AV can interfere with another, and even reduce the real time protection effectiveness of both. You can disable the real time protection of one and use it just for scans.

Many things combined will contribute towards the security of a computer.
No single solution is 100% effective.
*Maintain Microsoft Updates and updates on all other web programs installed
*Don't leave blank Administrator passwords
*Stay away from sources known to be avenues of malware
*Use smarts

it actually does work, it take about 15 minutes to start after the scheduled time. strange

MSE rocks man! Yesterday a colleague brought in a hard drive from a PC that would not complete booting to desktop, the screen would simply go solid blue background...mouse cursor was responsive..but nothing else. Not even safe mode.

Slaved drive to our bench PC here, started browsing the users profile directory, right away MSE started to jump up alerts. MSE found about 25 trojans, MalwareBytes found another 32.

And this PC was protected by AVG! All these trojans slipped past it.

It had been bit by a new rogue variant called XP Deluxe Protector

User was a heavy Facebook user, and Limewire!
