I have a wireless router down stairs, a wireless laptop with vista and a desktop with xp without a wireless card. Is it possible to share the wireless internet from my laptop to the desktop by connecting my desktop to my laptop directly and if so how?

p.s. I know getting a wireless card will solve the whole problem but im not spending the money, if this is possible, plus it causes my graphics card to overheat, and i also refuse to by a $20 wireless USB adapter that will just overheat in a week.

Connect the desktop computer (the one without wireless card) by ethernet cable (cat5) to the router and connect the laptop (with wireless card) to router by wireless.
