I think Humboldt was talking about the other Obama; the one that is our president.

What he does on his own time is nobody's business but I've never been one to agree that drug use was ok...and in his position "now" he shouldn't be doing anything like that.. this is something done before the games but surely doesn't make it ok and gives a bad image to kids that were putting him in the hero position. If I was any company at this point I would pull his contract and drop him real quick.

I drink a beer from time to time and even take a shot of the good stuff... but I'm not a drunk I'm a casual drinker...when your constantly drunk and being an ass then its a different story.

who gets locked up for one bong rip? NOBODY. they cannot prove he had anymore than that so he should not be locked up. plus i am sure he does not have a record so that will weigh.

btw,,,they cannot even prove it was weed.

it only takes one time... but if they prove it was weed then yes he should be locked up for it or treated just like any normal person would.

thats fine as long as he's treated like anyone else in that circumstance to make it fair regardless of any amount of medals he's won.

this will go no further than "looking into it". IF (and he won't) gets convicted, he will get a fine and costs.

edit: because of who he is, he will probably get a little community service talking to kids about the importance of not doing drugs.

I do think he has some responsibility as a role model/celebrity but I can't figure out why this is news or the need to report it.

and so it begins..
Cereal and snack maker Kellogg Co. says it will not renew its sponsorhip contract with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps because he has acknowledged smoking marijuana last fall.

The Battle Creek, Mich.-based company said Thursday that Phelps's behavior - caught on camera and published Sunday - is "not consistent with the image of Kellogg."

The company put Phelps on boxes of its Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes.

Separately Thursday, Phelps was suspended from competition for three months by USA Swimming, the sport's national governing body.

USA Swimming also cut off its financial support to Phelps for the same three-month period, effective from Thursday.

"This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero," the federation said in a statement.

he is already set for life. sooner than later this will be forgot about and he will win some big races and flash that big smile and he will get others. when the Olympics come around again and he wins more gold medals the sponsors again will come pouring in.

Speeding is breaking the law also. If he had been ticketed for speeding, would you still feel the same way?

And it's NOT the same thing. If every crime carried the same weight in the courtroom, then there wouldn't be different levels of punishment.

So when you broke the speed limit this morning on the way to work (accidentally, of course), you should be treated the same as a serial child rapist?

Same thing, right? Breaking the law and all.

No what I'm saying is if I broke the speed limit I should get a ticket just as he does. If the contacts he's signed say he can't represent the company in a manner such as displaying drug use then he broke contact and I'd ask for the money back. If I went out and smoked a crack pipe and I get locked up for a weekend for it or a year in jail cause it happens everyday for normal everyday people then he shouldn't be treated any differently regardless of status or medal count.

Breaking the law is Breaking the Law = Same thing.. thats what I mean!

Oh and I didn't break the speed limit on the way in this morning.. my wife dropped me off :)

jesus.. LOL I'm not trying to really.. I'm just saying I've seen people around here get caught with weed and smoking it..get locked up for a year or more for it. If thats the case I think he should get the same.. he shouldn't be treated differently. The way your arguing everything seems as if you think its not a big deal that he did it and shouldn't get anything. he should be treated just like anyone else that has done what he's done. As for the sponsers well I'd pull his contracts and demand the money back if he violated certain parts of it doing this.

they might have got locked up for a year, but it was because they had quantity.
