I am building a new computer (tower Case) and would like any suggestions etc on how to keep the internals orgainized and routed. I don't need any hardware suggtestions, just some ideas you may have that really worked for you like a certain connector configuration, rounded cables, weird fan setup, things like that.

ok, number one, dont run any more than one device off of a controller. ie HD on ide1 cdrom on ide 2, etc. If you have to make multiple on each controller, keep hd's on one and cd types on the other controller. round your cables and get some 1337 anodized splitloom to cover(I just put mine on, gonna try to develop film tonight). get cable clamps(can get them from anywhere) that attach to the inside of the case to control any casefan power wires. I have 2 blowholez on side that I need to straighten out power leads for. If you are thinking about blowholes, I would suggest 3. One directly over cpu, 1 or 2 side by side over vid card(s) and one out the top of the machine. this is of course in addition to your intake in the bottom front(which I recommend you remove any metal from the case in front of the fan blades as it restricts airflow) and you should upgrade the front bottom intake from a 80mm to at least a 92mm HO fan. for the top blowhole, I would suggest a 120mm HO 100+cfm fan and grill to keep up with all the 80mm's and the 92mm fans blowing in. The psu blowing out is not enough, you will have stagnant hot air inside your case. all in all, that is a pretty good start. There are a million more ideas I could spout but I dont have time. My website has a few pics of the mods I'v done but its out of date by like 3 weeks. I have done quite a bit since then. still some neat stuff there I think. anyway, now that I have the largest reply ever, G'Luck!

Certain mobo are selective about where some cards in the mobo go. Tell us more about the system. What are you going to do with it? Rounded cables look cool but unless they impead air flow then its a big waste of time not to mention if you nick one of those tiny wires then your out a cable. If your overclocking then yes you may need this to keep it cool. As far as a fan goes, you can just use something like a coolmaster(low budget)if your not going to overclock it. Basically ask the questions you would like answered one on one. These are some of the smartest people in the computer field right here at your finger tips. We will find solutions for you questions. I don't know about the rest of the guys here but I would like to have a bit more info on what your tring to acomplish and its end results.

Thanks for your interest. And I do understand you wanting more info but I have a pretty good handle on my setup and where its going. I was just thinking along the lines of cable manufactures, fan makers etc. I know it sounds pretty simple but those were the only answers I was looking for. Once I need specific info I will query this group. I do agree with you though... I've seen some very good responses to specific questions and admire the minds at work. Maybe it was a stupid question to start with but I thought I would just see if any of you had one particular thing you just couldn't live without.

increased airflow since the rounded cable does not restrict as much flow as a flat cable might

I've got my IDE cables rounded. They dropped my system temp by 2-3ÂșC.
you can route your audio cable (the one from the sound card to cd/dvd drive) around the perimeter/behind the mobo. Tie up extra cable so they aren't all over the place. Hmm, wrap extra fan wires around the fan so they don't dangle all over the place. Add fan filters...Hmmm, trying to think of what else I've done to mine...
hehe, add neon lights

theres another thread on here where someone says its not a good idea to round those ide cables, check it out before you do.

HMMM looking for fan types, etc. well,
http://nerdsbyte.safeshopper.com has the nicest rounded cables. its a bit of a pain to navigate though. also, go to
www.caseetc.com for great QUIET fans. they dont seem to move quite as much air but they are tons quieter.
www.pcpowercooling.com for silencer power supplies (quality power and very quiet). uhm what other areas are you looking for?
