Any new FPS on the horizon?

Looking to see what might be coming out soon. I got about 2/3rds through Crysis and stopped (I'm not sure why but I did).

I have to say FC2 is catching my eye.64bit wrote:Far Cry 2 in a few days.
Its a standalone expansion, improves on all of things that were critized in teh original.Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote:Is Crysis Warhead an expansion pack or standalone game? The reason for asking is Virgin Records here in Q8 wants 34kd for Crysis and 10kd for Crysis Warhead.
How are the single player missions in Cyrsis? Don't have the bandwidth for online play.YARDofSTUF wrote:Its a standalone expansion, improves on all of things that were critized in teh original.
Sava would probably be able to answer that better.Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote:How are the single player missions in Cyrsis? Don't have the bandwidth for online play.
Warhead is its own game.. its pretty much another member of the US Team splitting off to do something else on the other side of the island while Nomad the main character is doing his thing on his end. The time and dates are the same and they pretty much join into each other at the end. So you really can't say its a expansion. Warhead was told to be cheaper to get sales up cause Crytek/EA felt the first game was over priced and if thats the difference your seeing then its still over priced. You don't need the first game to play the 2nd and if you didn't play the first game its not really going to throw you off too much.Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote:Is Crysis Warhead an expansion pack or standalone game? I tried the demo out too..and I agree with what your saying. The game appears to be nothing more than a skin of COD4 or a mod like BF2 had using DC or POE.YeOldeStonecat wrote:Tried Call of Duty World at War MP demo...
Eh..I'm not gonna buy it. It's still too much like the earlier versions...limited outdoor environments....too closed. Still seems to have roots in the old corridor based game engine stemming from the early Quake games.
Yeah...the typical washed out colors, too small and cramped, and I feel the game hit engine is too inaccurate. Too much of a "meelee feel" for me, too arcade like.Sava700 wrote:I tried the demo out too..and I agree with what your saying. Your already seeing forum posts about people complaining about the dogs and other things and those that love them... same ole stuff that usually causes them to patch something out of the game even before its released that might turn out to be really good.
Thanks for the input. Gonna pick them both up later in the week.Sava700 wrote:Warhead is its own game.. its pretty much another member of the US Team splitting off to do something else on the other side of the island while Nomad the main character is doing his thing on his end. Both single player aspects are awesome... the missions are spread out on the first one from one batch of enemies to the next but many of them take a decent amount of stratagy to get through if you put the difficulty settings max which you should do anyway. The AI on the first game is pretty good but Warhead takes it to the next level. The enemie batches are not as spread out and will often blend into the next group so you could be fighting a group of KPA then a chopper from ahead comes after you. The AI has been improved over the first game too along with being more Optimized for smooth play. Make sure your drivers are updated good and system is running well to play either.
I've enjoyed both games and think they were money well spent!![]()

Hadn't read about the dogs, but hadn't looked either. They never bothered me in Quake 1 when I'd swing at them with the hatchet and hear their yelps.
I might get it for the single player experience...to play through once, as I enjoyed the prior COD versions for that aspect, but never really found replay or multiplayer good. Nothing can match the wide outdoor environment and touch more realism of the Battlefield series for me.
