Hello all,

This is my first post, so please forgive me if this is in the wrong section. I just recently purchased a netgear wpn824 router. I have 2 comps. If someone could please give me step by step instructions on how to configure my comps/router to play starcraft over battlenet I would be in heaven. I would like to be able to play with both computers on bnet in the same game, with others as well. Ive noticed this has been a huge issue with this game and this is the reason I purchased this particular router. After doing some research I found this router allows starcraft to be played with more then one comp without lag in the same game. My problem is that I am completely ignorant to setting up all this stuff. I had a buddy of mine set it up a long time ago and now im stuck with a new router and I dont know what to do. Once again, if anyone could please help me on this subject I would appreciate it.

Just a quick question ..but does starcraft require a product Key to be typed in when you install it on a computer?

I'm going to assume by a quick search that it does... so this means the game is coded to be used on one computer online at one time. You can't use the same install or disk to play the game on two computers online at once. The key gives out a certain "HASH" code which is picked up by Punkbuster and that may be causing more problems than one.

Now as for using two different disks/installs a router issue well the router shouldn't be blocking any game ports outgoing. If you can get into the router properties adjust the following just for the hell of it:

Allow port 6112 TCP and UDP out and in

Ok. So I have both comps set-up and my router is configured to open ports for 6112 tcp/udp both. We both have different cd's so I know that not the problem. I can host games jsut fine but when my other comp tries to join we both experience lag. I bought this router because I thought it had a way around this. Any thoughts?? My router is the netgear wpn824v3. I have both comps set up with a static ip as well. I just have no clue what else to do. SOMEONE HELP!!!

what is your internet connection you pay for? Speeds, type etc...

The reason why you're lagging when two people on the same router plays in the same game with other people is because both the computer uses the same port and battlenet can't handle 2 computers on the same port. I know cases where people tried this method but still have the lag, most notably are people who uses Linksys routers. However, I personally used this and was able to play with my brother on battlenet on the same game without lag but I used a really old router that does not support wireless. I think certain routers have firewalls and securities that block certain signals, that's why people with Linksys routers can't get it to work. Hopefully it will work for your router. Please let me know how it goes when you've tried it.
