Need help getting CNC3 kanes wrath to work online! (Im being specific.)

Ok heres my situation. I always get the "not able to connect to cnc online message" SO here is my network status.

1. No I have never been able to play cnc online (But I have played plenty of other games online, Crysis, COD4 etc.)
2.There no recent PC config changes that are related to the internet.
3.I have visited my router config webpage (http://192.168.1.1) and I have check to make sure my ISP is not blocking access.
4. The only firewall I have is Windows firewall and I have tried playing cnc online with it off.
5. I am in a private LAN, not a university or office connection.
6. The only router I use is the modem/router that I received from verizon.

Also PUBLIC LAN is not enabled. Should I enable it?

and I have portfowarded the ports UDP, TCP 8088-65535. and 3783-29901
(but that doesn't help)

Could maybe NAT have to do something with this problem? (there is a refresh NAT button in the options section but I can't click on it(its grayed out))
7. How do I check if NAT is enabled on my router/modem? (I can't find anything about it in the router config website)

Heres a pic of the Network options page in cnc Kanes wrath.
[img][/IMG]

#2 what is this "port number" option?
#1 why is the "refresh nat" button grayed out?

Thanks!

What speed are you paying for ?

Post your TCP Analyzer Report.

Alot of gamea need icmp traffic to connect on line so make sure wan ping ,and respond to wan requests are enabled ,or it might be under icmp taffic enabled in your router.

Also see verizon has any firmware upgrades for your modem/router

Here is good site about mapping ports
http://www.portforward.com/

I've already tried portfoward.
I did a UOtrace to the gamespy and ea servers and Im losing packets. How should I fix that since that seems to be the culprint. Also it gave me a error that said "buffer too small" when I was trace routing gamespy.master.com. How do I fix that as well?

I don't see anything about icmp traffic in my router settings...

You did not provide what speed you are paying for. I assume you have 3 mbps

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU 1500
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 64240
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - uncheck
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

Speed, I have 100mbps

Since you assumed I have 3mbps I'll wait to make sure if the settings above are different for my real connection speed than what you assumed before I change the settings.

(BTW I have 864 Kbits/sec by 160 Kbits/sec Down and Up)

No I haven't but im convinced its not a forwarding problem.
Like I said eariler
1. Im losing packets to master.gamespy.com
2. traceroute failed to ea.easo.com due to "buffer to small"

I want to fix these problems since I think this is the problem.
How Can I do that?
(those addresses is what the computer connects to to play CNC kanes wrath online)

I'll set up an DMZ after I fix these 2 problems and if it still doesn't work then.

Oh and theres nothing in my router config site about ping.
Theres a configuration tab and thats it. Everything else is like stats, maintanence etc.
Heres the options in the config tab

VC Configuration
DNS Configuration
DHCP Configuration
Private LAN Configuration
Public LAN Configuration
Detect WAN Configuration
Service Configuration
Firewall Configuration
ATM Loopbacks
Turbo TCP

Service config is where I can portfoward, everything else is just what it title says.

Sorry for the late reply. I got a new router (my other one broke (westell 6100E))
I got the updated version, westell 6100F, but it makes no difference.
I reopened the ports too.

1. Should I enable Static Nat?
2. This is my VC status

My connection is in a "routed Bridge" setup.

Anything I can do to help me connect to cnc3 kanes wrath online?

Try calling the provider it could be some isp's do block the higher port ranges TCP 8088-65535 that 8000 could be block on their end YOu could try the modem in just a bridge mode ,or if there is a way leave in routed mode with firewall off just to test it.

If it works with out the firewall on then the isp is not blocking it. In the game is there an option to change what port it usses?

If I put it in just a bridge mode, will it mess up my internet?
I have verizon, I don't think they are blocking high port ranges bec I had trouble playing a game, then I opened up 5500 (it was required) then it worked.

"If it works with out the firewall on then the isp is not blocking it"
- im not sure if I understand.

1. What is the difference b/w "bridge" and "routed bridge"

http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... agewk1.png
heres a photo showing the port option in CNC3 Kanes Wrath. SHould I put "8088" in the box?

2. I also disable the DHCP client and used static addresses instead. Is that ok?

I want to try DMZ host but it won't work bec my WAN IP isn't enabled.

bride mode means it's just a modem only no router functions which means you will need a pppoe cliet to connect to the net since the router functons are disabled on modem

routed bridge is where the modem acts like a router in the sense of the modem will log you on the net though the modem no softwre requried ,and also if you did get another router to the network that is most likely the mode you would put the modem on to get it to work with two routers.

YOu can use manaul ip's the computer the wan ip you get from the provider when you connect to the interent so use dymanic conncetion on the connection type. For the dmz you use the computers ip for the dmz host so whatever the ip of the computer that the games is on is the one you want.

I see what you mean thanks but how do I enable or connect WAN IP. When I try to Enable DMZ it won't bec it says the WAN IP is not connected. Theres no "dymanic connection" option except for when I choose how I want to port foward.

Look at this pic.

Ok thanks but is there a good program to see if my ports I opened through the router are actually open? (a port scanner or Ip scanner?)

And if they blocked, how can I unblock them?

check out port magic

Will it unblock my ports? and is it compatible with my Westell 6100?

And can you find where to download? everywhere I go it gives me a 404 file not found error.

OK I used ShieldsUP port prober and this what happened.
I get the "stealth" mode for most ports and some are "closed" but the funny thing is not a single port is "open". Only a few that I port fowarded are "closed" most are stealthed.

If stealthed (not responding to anything) does that mean the ports aren't communitcating?
