vista black screen.

can someone please help. i am using vista home premium when my screen has been on for about an hour i get a black screen come up i then have no access at all and then have to reboot the computer is there a way to stop this .

Could be Screensaver is acting up, try to change or disable it.

hi. tried your suggestion changed the screensaver with no luck then disabled it still no good the screen still goes black after about an hour of use then i have to reboot it.

Check your monitor & graphics card to see where the problem is.

Check and see if you have any update driver for your graphics card to suit Vista:

i tried all suggestions and still having no luck even turned off the security desk top as someone else told me but that doesn't work either vista is a real pain.

In the cmos of the computer disable all the power saving features ,and also in control panel network and sharring ,and manage my connections in the properties of that disable all the wake on lan ,and allow this device to shutdown the ocmputer. YOu could do all this in safe mode you hit f8 after the ram checksum screen
Upgrade the bios see if there is any updates for it. If all that still dosen't work see if you could boot into safe mode ,and goto control panel adriminstrative tools ,and event viewer see if there is any errors if so paste them here.

mccoffee tried your first suggestion and all seems ok hope this stops the blackscreen from coming back again thanks for your help and to everyone else who tried to help.
