Keyboard problem help

can some help me please my keyboard settings are not correct.my shift keys are not working when hit the left shift it does nothing and my right shift when hit at the same time as ctrl key opens a ie window.i went into the regional setting and it's set on us united states keyboard. im not what im doing wrong please any help would be great. im running winxp sp2 home.

Do you have an extra (borrow or steal) a keyboard you can try? Might be the keyboard and not a software setting.

It could be a bad keyboard or it could be a hotkey issue or conflict. I believe it is Intel Graphics hotkeys that can conflict with Windows hotkeys and do strange things.

What is your motherboard, is it an Intel?

google "disable hotkeys in XP home" and you should get results from both...

USB or PS/2 keyb?

Fullsize or one of those little compact things?

hi again.. i tried 2 different kb same result.. yes its a PS/2 full size belkin ergonmic kb. pc specs are intel pentium 4 cpu 3.06ghz winxp sp2 home edition.
another ? should i upgrade to sp3 i have heard good/bads things about the sp3 upgrade.

You can go to SP3 (I have it running)... but I don't think that will fix the keyboard problem.
