need a little help with my motherboard

Well since I'm not so good with computer hardware stuff. So here is my question. Today I took the case of my comp to clean up the dust. Under my EDO memory slot. I have 2 extra slot which I dont' know whats its for. Here is how it goes in order:
4 EDO memory slot - All use up.
2 unknown slot - Looks like a memory slot but longer than my edo slot. could it be a pc100 slot??
4 pci slot
3 isa slot
I think my motherboard brand is space shuttle or something.
So could anyone indentify those slot for me. If its a pc100 slot. Can I still use my edo memory with the pc100 or do i have to take out the edo??.

Your EDO memory is 72Pin (SIMM Slots). The two longer slots are 168pin (DIMM Slots). Whether or not the system can use the PC100 memory, depends on what board you have. You most likely can use PC100 DIMM's, but you probably won't be running the ram at 100Mhz.
If you put memory in the dimm slots, you might have to remove the EDO ram from one, or both EDO banks.

yes he is correct
you are prolly running your board at 66Mhz FSB, so you can safely purchase PC-100 SDRAM and run it just fine. Of course givin that that is a DIMM slot you have there.
Another option is it could be a Cache Memory Slot, allowing you to up the L2 Cache on your mobo.
Find out the Brand and Model # of your mobo and we can look it up and get the specs on it.

Hey thanks guy for replying. My mobo is a spaceshuttle HOT-569. If I do purchase a pc-100 sdram which one should i get? 64mb or 128mb? or two 64mb?? cuz I think if I get the 128mb its proabably going to slow down my system. So help me decide.

Hey silkman which city do you live in? I am asking because I am selling two 64 meg Dimms since in a couple of months I am getting a Pentium 3 that does 133 Mhz bus speed and I need to replace them with pc133 memory. If you live in Ottawa I would give them to you real cheap with receipts from when i bought them but only if you are from Ottawa since I dont wanna risk mail.
PS. Why do you think that 128 megs would slow down your pc? Not a chance that would happen. 128 is the sweetspot for memory in Win98 if that is what you are using.

If the slots are either above or below and directly next to the EDO slots, they are for DIMM.
If you use 128MB DIMM, you can add a second later. Also, you can probably get a single 128 for less than two 64's.
If you purchase PC100, you should not combine them with your old EDO.
