OK i just got an email from my boss at another site. she is asking me if there is a way to check to see if a port is open. Someone is coming in to do a demo and he asked to see if port 1494 is open. The only way i remember doing it is telnet. is there something i can send my boss besides a sniffer to see if the port is an open port? I can't log in remotely because the tech that was in before me has not gotten back to us as to what the password was..lol

Use Shields Up and choose All service ports after hitting the proceed button.

For inbound or outbound traffic?

One easy way would be to do a scan of the external IP from anywhere using something like Neusses. Shields Up will do the same thing from any PC at the site.
