She is in a coma. She just stopped breathing. doc thinks it is a pulmonary embolism since she does have empysema.

My sister knows CPR and worked on her right away and hopefully, if she comes out of this coma, she will have minimal brain damage. I just got back from the hospital and doc told me she definately had a heart attack. My opening statement was based on what was told to me when I got home.

Update:

Mom is starting to respond slowly. She responds to pain stimulus. She is unable to squeeze your hand if you asked her.

Today, was new...doc touched her eye and it definately moved. Her eyes were fixed and stationary since Friday night.

It is hard to tell. I am not sure if she will recover. If there is no improvement or changes in 10 days, Doc will sit down with us and explain our options.

They took her off the heart meds that kept her heart rate right. She cannot go without the respirator. They tried a few times. She can't breathe. Since she has been off the heart meds her blood pressure has increased and her heart rate is steadily increasing. If she goes into arrest, they will not resuscitate her. I am not sure if she will last through the night.

I just got home to get something to eat and update you guys. I am heading back there now.

Met the priest....did the final annointing. Now there is a change of shift. I have to wait until 9 p.m. to go back.

The doctors are trying to let us down gently. Mom sustained serious brain damage. Today, I had to go to her eye doctor to pick up her new glasses that she just went for last week. That blew me away.

We will be faced with a decision soon. Sis and I talked about it and we agreed to wait at least 3-4 weeks. I'll keep you posted.
