Anyone try Chantix to quit smoking?

I have spoken to three people so far and they lost their desire to smoke while taking Chantix in the first 4 weeks. I was thinking of trying it.

Quitting smoking is all about will power. If you can't do it cold turkey, then you will most likely return to it later on even if the quitting smoking aids help.

However if you have the will power, and just need a kick start, then aids could help. If you rely on them to quit though, it probably won't happen.

Smoking is also about the action of it. A lot of times people will take to food or suckers or something that can replace the motion of smoking.

Have you looked into Licorice Root, i've heard of many people being able to stop using it as well, don't know anything about Chantix because I don't smoke. Just another option. :thumb: Great choice on quiting!

This is where I have seen people use the licorice root and pretend to smoke it lol, often wondering why no smoke was coming out but it helped them stop.

Licorice root is like a laxative. I can't use it.

Not to eat, the actual root, it looks like a cinamon stick, but its licorice, before it gets ground down for consumption. Like holding a fake cigarette.

I have a bottle of it right here. Everyone I know that was on it was able to quit. I just have not committed to quit yet. But I have the meds ready for that day.

A couple things that helped me:

switch to a non-additive cigarette. A lot of the big names add chemicals (like trace amounts of chocolate) just for their addictive qualities...like nicotine isn't addictive enough

Try some homeopathic nicotine-withdrawal pills. They helped me a lot...reduced irritability and craving.

Pack a day for over 10 years, those 2 things helped me kick.

Lots of them out there, can't remember which brand I used but most of them have similar ingredients.

* Prepare your body to cope with nicotine withdrawal
* Help to prevent depression and mood swings often associated with
nicotine withdrawal
* Balance blood sugar levels to prevent sugar craving during withdrawal
* Prevent withdrawal effects like headaches and insomnia
* Help to prevent viral infections like colds and flu which often
accompany nicotine withdrawal

You don't swallow them like a normal pill, you put one under your tongue and let it dissolve. After a couple days I started to crave the pills and not cigarettes as much :D I also switched to American Spirits. Stronger but without all the extra addictive crap in them...smoked them in halves so that cut what I was smoking by 50% right there. Gradually reduced that number to a couple per day then used the pills when I got bad cravings. They helped a lot and I was able to nix those last couple smokes.

cause a cig will take vitamin C from your body... about the same as you would get from a Hi-C drink.

What did you like about it?

Are you smoking now?

I'll be honest with you. I don't trust it.

Cold turkey is the best way to do it and a lot of people (like me) have to have the chit scared out of us to do it. I know I was scared.

i am smoking now, but because of my fault, not the chantix. the part i like the most about it, it that after a couple days you don't have the irritation (nic withdrawal) that you have when you quit cold turkey.

...but Gix, that is normal. The worse part of withdrawal is the first 3 days.

i understand that, but i am very testy during those few days and i hate it. if you don't have to feel like that then why go through it.
