Even in an untweaked comp, download speed would not normally be so low.

I suspect your comp may have been infected by some spyware/malware.

Search Google, download, install, update and scan your comp with the following:

SpyBot
Ad-Aware 2007
a-Squared Free

After your comp is infection-free, reboot comp and do a new speedtest and post.

I would agree on the spy / malware but his upload bandwidth is unaffected, usually both the upload and download bandwidths are affected, not one or the other.

Do you have any bandwidth shaping software installed or is it present on your router / modem? This is a way of limiting your bandwidth, the ISP can do this on their side too.

What kind of connection to the Internet do you have?

ADSL, SDSL, HSDSL, or Cable, or an OC series connection?

I can better help you if I know what kind of connection you have on your computer and whether or not this just started happening if it's been like this the whole time.

Looks like your set up for a proxy...

What is ISP? I don't understand.. i already use the setting that troger gave me.. but it didn't work

Internet Service Provider (ISP) is the company that you pay to get an internet connection. What is the name of this company?

Do a tracert and post.

Click 'Start' and 'Run'. In the open box, type "cmd" and click 'ok'.

A black DOS box will pop-up.

After c:\> type "tracert www.yahoo.com" and press 'Enter'

After tracert finish running, post your results.

Hop 1 shows the IP address of a router but the ping times are very high. Usual ping times at the router would be <1ms to 1ms.

Make sure your router and modem are placed a few feet apart and also both placed a few feet away from any other electrical devices to avoid electromagnetic interference.

If you have a cordless phone nearby, remove it and see if your speed improves.

Also, what kind of firewall program are you using?

i'm using windows firewall... by the way is the distance between the computer and the router have influence?

Distance between computer and router can be a factor if the distance is exceptionally large, eg. 20m for wired connection or 40m for wireless.

How far is your comp from the router and is the connection wired or wireless?

It is unlikely your ISP is limiting your speed due to some act on your part such as non-payment as you have tested to >500kbps speed.

What speed did you pay your ISP to give you? Is your ISP using ADSL system?

To find out, you should log into the website of your ISP as they would explain what services they are offering to the market.

yes.. i think they use ADSL system, coz the router image on that wikipedia page similar 2 my router.... It's getting worst... what am i supose 2 do?

If your comp to the router is too far, suggest you get a wireless router and a wireless network card.
