BF3 anytime soon?

Anyone think a new version will be coming out soon? With the winter coming up, I thought about picking up BF2. However, if 3 is coming soon, I don't want to drop the cash.
Anyone?

Already out, its called BF2124, futuristic now, but read up on its advertisement policy, if you dont like subtle in game ads, or them gearing local ads to you then you might want to stick with BF2.

Dang... how is it? Pretty fun?
Not sure what I think of the futuristic aspect. I kinda dig the modern day stuff.

It's a good balance of infantry and vehicles. The game rewards teamwork and it isn't too futuristic to the point of lasers and star wars crap....I give it 2 thumbs up.

Yeah I would try the demo first to make sure you like it or not.. I didn't care for it very much cause it had slower game play than BF2. Plus with putting in spyware which really hasn't taken off just yet wide open its not something I care to put on my computer that I try so hard to keep clean so BF2 is the end of the Battlefield series for me unless they come up with something different beyond 2142.

I love playing 2142 rather than BF2 to be honest. Great infantry maps. Not sure when / if BF3 would be coming out. I've heard it's more towards the consoles than pc?

no spyware..more like a cookie....and you can block it without consequence at this point ..the reason it's slower is everything is an unlock now ..including sprint and sprint boost capabilities along with heavy armor it can make it feel kinda clunky at first......IMO 2142 pwns BF2.....there is no one 'uber' weapon and a lone engy can bring down any aircraft.....it's solid

Try the demo but in all honesty the demo is garbage and you don't get to try any of the unlocks ...the demo map is Sidi Power Plant and is considered to be an air map and it's a titan map ...there is conquest mode also where there is no air vehicles but the demo doesn't inlude that ...the walkers are cool but awkward to drive at first.......silo 2 in the middle is a magnet for action ....you'll see how it's played but the demo doesn't do the full any favors

I'll throw up some screen shots as well...once im home of course.
Izzo....im going to add you to my in-game buddy list. Cool? Also, the Dissidents have a ranked server up and running. I'll start up another thread with all the information. Unless ButtMan wanted to do it before I get home from work this evening.

Freakin demo won't even load. Installs OK. Choose it from menu, monitor flickers and then nothing.
Ugh. That's what you get for installing it on work PC.

Make sure you've got the most recent DirectX update... you can get it from the dxsetup download from microsofts download page.
But I don't like it I think the game sucks
But if you get it we do have a server up playing it and BF2 so feel free to join..I got a thread of it up.

Don't listen to ButtMan...he's just basing his opinion on the demo and yeah, the demo sucks.
The game is 10x better with all the cool unlocks. Especially all the squad leader toys.
