Hi Sava
When i was a teen they just started to come out and where a big thing. Summers only in Canada for the most part, as it was too cold for winter operation.
Over time however most Drive-ins that usually where located just outside the City limits saw City expansion come their way and the properties became more valuable than the businesses and thus they sold the land and it kind of died out.
The Cops hated them as there was a lot of drinking and the rush of cars after the show was over prompted a lot of drag racing etc. They ended up going in to the Drive-ins and checking cars etc. taking away some of the fun. Nothing worse than a Flashlight being shown into your car when things were a getting a bit hot.
I had a great time their over the years i must admit.
We used to refer to them a "The Finger Bowl"
