updating sound card drivers

have windows m.e. and everytime i want to update drivers for my sound card i install them then when i reboot windows always reloads another set of drivers causing a crackling sound in my speakers...any ideas?

Which soundcard do you have? And have you checked the companies site to see if they have an FAQ that would answer this problem.

you might have to delete your old sound card drivers first then install the new ones. This would be the same methology used when one wants to update drivers for their video cards.

i've tried removing the card in device mgr and same thing happens...have soudblaster 64v on hp computer and it loads creative audio pci 64/128 drivers tried hps support site and used their drivers but it keeps overwriting them
