Lefty, I am going to keep it towards the top for a bit and then sticky. For some reason, people like me always seem to overlook the stickies! :o :D

Heh, thanks for the plug Ken :)

The program is free to try, it helps track a number of auctions from a single screen, and it can bid for you while you're away from your computer. It can alert you on bid changes, snipe auctions within a few seconds before auction close, and it supports bid groups, multiple eBay ids, etc.

If anyone is interested, and has over 3 months of premium membership to SG, just drop me a PM/email with the registration number from the program, and I'll get you a free license.

If you try it, any feedback is appreciated as well.

Darn, now I won't be able to keep up with manually sniping all of the "girls of boating" stuff Ken's always watching...

The only bad thing about this is that now everyone will be an Ebay master..

(I might just have to check it out).
definitely looks cool.

As far as sniping... You have to consider the fact there are others using similar (most of them inferior in my partial opinion) tools.

Ultimately, the bidder with the highest proxy bid wins, sniping or now. Still, you have advantages by sniping:

1. You avoid driving the price up early, since everyone else gets emailed by eBay, telling them they're outbid, and they have plenty of time to reconsider their maximum bids.

2. With manual bidding, new bidders try to compete with your proxy bid, driving the price up early in the auction.

3. Using a program like that gives you the flexibility to change/cancell your bid anytime up to the last few seconds of the auction.

In addition, you get to track a number of auctons from a single screen, etc., it's not just about sniping ;)

Does the program auto refresh itself with the changes? Or do I have to import the new auctions every time I bid on a new one?

Prey521 wrote:Does the program auto refresh itself with the changes? Or do I have to import the new auctions every time I bid on a new one?

Once you import auctions, the program tracks them automatically, it updates the price periodically (there is a timer till the next refresh in the lower right on the status bar), alerts you on bid changes, etc. There is nothing else you need to do for it to monitor auctions... If you want to bid, just click on an auction in the program and set your bid. Other than that, the refresh interval, default snipe time and everything else can be set from the Options menu.

This sounds nice. I have tried another program before and it did not fair to well. If only I saw this yesterday, since I just lost a very important bid yesterday in the last 5 secs. I was bidding on a guitar like one I had that was stolen from me and has been out of production for years. Finally track one down on ebay, just to be outbid like that. I am still hot over the deal.

thanks

Dang I just noticed it is designed for windows. I tried installing on my linux box using wine and gnome installer. It installed but will not launch. Guess i have to put it on my fiance's pc.

fastchevy: sorry ? :D

Immy: we weren't too worried about the web design I suppose... I just put something together that looked clean. It is easy enough to change at some point, most of it is template/database based, and it is a lot smaller than SG.

burple: Yes, it is designed for Windows only, currently... I'm afraid there is not enough demand to port it to Linux.

Just a curious question, what happens if two members running the program are interested in the same thing, ie; Ken and Prey are in the mood for some gay pirate poetry and both start bidding on something they like on ebay and both have your program. Who will win? :D

I am so going to hell for this.

It's a stalemate and Immy ends up keeping his books filled with scurvy-inducing prose.

EDIT: And on the topic here, it looks very interesting, and I'll be looking into this too.

The one with the larger... Er, nm. At the end, the one with the highest bid will win. You can still be outbid if you don't have the highest bid, even if you wait till the last second.

Does it work on other eBay sites or just ebay.com, (i.e. eBay.co.uk or eBay.de)?

In, there's an option to change your preferred ebay site, so you should be good to go.
