Hi to all
It's Surprisingly quick in V6 version and almost as frugal as the 4 Cylinder.

4-cylinder vs. V6. Larger in every dimension, the redesigned 2006 RAV4 now offers V6 as well as 4-cylinder power. Managing Editor Grant Yoxon likes the RAV4's well-designed, spacious interior and "plentiful and well-thought out storage." However, the choice of a "reserved" 4-cylinder or a "muscular" V6 left him "wondering if a single engine with sufficient power for most activities would not have been better than two engines at opposite extremes of the power continuum."

Getting big huh? Seems like it's outgrown the budget mini-suv market it was in before...wonder if they'll fill in the gap with an all new model.

Nice 'n peppy with that V6 though.

Hi YeOldeStonecat

Size matters, i guess YOSC. :D

Usual stuff it seems. Start small and grow till obsolete, then start again with a new model.

It is fast and mileage is good as well.

Have a good one, raining like mad here. :)

Nice offering for the wifey. (waits for Prey's Its a chicks car comment) The only thing with small SUVs as well as mid size is they look big till you actually try and put something in it. Raining cats and dogs here as well, and going through the weekend. I'm glad I took Wedsnday off and went fishing. :D

Hi YeOldeStonecat & Lefty

YeOldeStonecat & Lefty
Happy to see i'm not alone in the bad weather dept. Yucky here too. I Had the Air on for the past week, was in the 30C range over the past few days, dropping to the 24C range for the next couple, which suits me just fine.

Lefty

Looks to have plenty of room and versatile seating in the rear, allowing you to fold both or either seat.

Lucky Wifey. Nice Fish by the way. :thumb:

Actually, the new redesign is a lot less girly, and with that V6 in it, should finally get movin! Though I did absolutely SMOKE one of them a few days ago on the NY Thruway! Poor bastard thought he had a chance! :D

Brent, if you're reading this, trade in your previous gen F@g4 for this new one :D

Hi Prey

I too like its styling. Very contemporary and the 6 moves it right along.

Have a delightful day :)

Either it was the 4cyl version, or they didn't have their foot on the gas. Did you see the 0-60 of the V6? 6.7 seconds? Yer Pukon can't do that!

Funny timing Minir....I just got back from Fishers Island....I was out at the school...met a guy from software company that does most of the schools in New York..putting in a new server for their business office software. He drove down from Albany NY...their company rents these RAV4s...he had a silver one just like in your pic.

Yeah I know they don't come with neon running-board lights and fuzzy dice from the dealership, and that gold crown on the dashboard. :rotfl:

Of course...Prey hangs these from his rearview mirror instead. That way...they're dangling right in front of him...bouncing off his forehead and chin sometimes...just like he likes it! :rotfl:

Car and Drivers roadtest...clocked it 0-60 in 6.3 seconds.

Sticker mileage quotes 29mpg for the 6 cyl....people on some RAV forums I peeked at over the weekend are reporting they're still seeing 24-25mpg with their 6 cyl 4wd models...in real world driving.

I like the interior setup. Since I've pretty much dumped the Caliber (too cheap feeling..and slow)...I think I've found what I'll trade in for..hopefully this fall.

There's a Hydrostream Viper 15 for sale a few streets down from me....pretty much exactly like this model...same year, same 6cyl Merc 115, and in top notch all original condition.

5,800 buckeroos though....man..another few months and I'd have it.

I was reading though the spec's, and you know what, they are almost identical to my 2006 hyundai tuscon, and mine was 5K less! and you can get a manual transmission for the 4 cylinder. The only problem i find with mine is that it only has 140HP with the 2.0L four cylinder but I get 600km on a tank of gas.
