Why do you need the MAC address?
Not sure that it does, if it has an internal http page, you may find it there. Check the manual.

It should be on the bottom or the back. That is what they called in when they came and installed mine.

Mine didn't have a MAC address! We had just a modem # assigned and HTTP page for diagnostics. :)

To obtain the MAC address of your Cybersurfr (or any other )modem:

1) Open a DOS window
2) Type WINIPCFG (or IPCONFIG)
3) Note the address of the default gateway, and ping it.
4) type ARP -a. The address that appears in the column headed "Physical Address" is the modem's MAC address.

The Cybersurfr does not have an internal web page. Don't know what you want the MAC for, but it is of no practical use. In particular, you can't access the modem, uncap it, or anything of the sort.

Good luck,

I have a Motorola modem (SurfBoard). Its on the back and some ISPs need it for tech support if they need to fix anything on your line.

MAC addresses are needed for provisioning too. Just b/c it's not disclosed on the back/botton of the modem, doesn't mean it doesn't have one. :)

The MAC address of my Motorola Cybersurfr Plus is 08-00-3e-0f-9c-b8.

Any Ethernet-connected device that can originate or receive a datagram has a MAC address. That includes all NICS, Printer servers, modems, and managed hubs and switches. Unmanaged hubs and switches cannot originate or receive datagrams, so they do not have MAC addresses.

All network devices (hubs, switches, NICs, cable modems, etc.) have MAC addresses. :)

Thanks Kip - there needs to be some general user-networking education in here :-)
