Just got an e-mail with somethig interesting.
Apparently China has been able to convince google, via search results, to not mention the attempted revolution.
"I've been so busy that I haven't even taken the time to write about Google's kowtowing to Chinese government pressure to rewrite history. These links say it all: "
Search Tiananmen at Google Images:
http://images.google.com/images?q=tiananmen
Now search Tiananmen at Google China:
http://images.google.cn/images?q=tiananmen
"Sigh. I guess profits are more important than freedom even to the "Do No Evil" company (Google's company slogan). "
Pretty interesting.

Makes you wonder.. If they are catering to the Chinese government making Tienanmen square all rosey and happy.. What will come of that request by our government to turn over info?
Kinda like Japan after WWII. The history books showed that America was the aggressor...
I can't imagine what the Chinese people are brought up to believe.
I'm sure that it goes on in all countries but to remember that event and have that as the results is a little alarming. Makes you wonder if you can really use google to do any kind of research at all. If they can edit that out, I would imagine that they could also filter results for hot topics such as
"US Economy, Iraq war, afghanistan, etc"... Could really slant US / world opinion to one side if folks didn't go directly to reputable sources. I guess the point being that we really can't even trust the internet and the search engines when we want to know about a topic.. If you want to know what's really going on in Iraq, you may only get the point of view of what the google folks want you to see..

There's a limited censorship in google america too. At least I saw it on tv so I assumed it's true.
I'm too lazy to think...

Google is going to do whats best for their Shareholders. Its not like denying them would change things. Whoever they get is going to have to abide by the contract no matter what. Its not an affair of the USA to involve ourselves in it. We do our own share of re-writing of history. We've had so many stories for the reasoning of going into Iraq its pitiful so who are we to talk. China is doing better then we are right now, so we should be worrying about the USA first. They have a surplus and are buying everything in sight...we have debt and American companies are ditching americans for Indians, Paks, Chinese and Philipinos. LOL
