Nod32 Question

I'm trying out Nod32 due to the rave reviews that its been getting here, and have a question about resources it uses.
When I play BF2 I shut down all unessential processes including Nod32 but when I check the processes under Windows Task Manager, nod32krn.exe is still listed.
No matter how many times I try to "end" the process, it doesn't. It'll move from the top to the bottom to the top of the list of processes. Is this normal? I assumed that it would quit fully when I shut it off.
Any ideas?
