How to connect two computers?

Hello all,
I want to connect two computers together in order to use in one computer a folder, which is in the second computer.
In both computers I have a network cards and I also have a crossover cable.
What kind of definitions I need to define in order to connect the two computers and to use the folder and files, which are all in the second computer.

Connect the two computers with the crossover cable configure the network settings on both computers, enable the sharing, and copy.
