So I bought a new 300GB Maxtor and windows Xp seems to only recognize 30gbs of the 300gbs! I installed the latest service packs(service pack 2) I even formatted the drive and installed windows on it but it still won't recognize more than 30gbs. So now I am stumped and hoping you guys may have a solution. thnxs in advance

BIOS for motherboard would be my next hunch...
What does it show it was in the BIOS currently?
What did NT Setup show it as when you were installing Winders?
How about in Disk Management?

Stick in a different comp and format it while it's a slave. Always seems to cure that problem for me.

Im pretty sure that the problem lies within the jumper settings. I read on Maxtor about a Capacity Limitation Jumper that limits the hardrive to only 32gb. I checked my hadrdrive jumpers and I seen that the CLJ jumper was in so im gonna have change the jumper settings and format and hopefully my problem will be solved.
