I'm interested in networking and want to learn, more so for my own personal experimentation rather than for a job.. so what would you recommend? Any good sites that teach the basics?

Network is a Wide topic. There is a lot of Good Sites, but in most cases the info is organized around issues.

I think that the best is to buy a Book of Basic Networking and than you can take it from there to the Internet according to you Interest.
