I have just bought a D-Link DSL-G604T wireless modem/router primarily to share the internet at home on my new centrino laptop. My desktop computer is connected to the router via an ethernet cable. Basically, I know I am not going to get great file transfer speeds, but I would like to be able to watch video from my main PC on my laptop, which I thought I would be able to do. Although, using an FTP to test the speed of file transfers it doesnt get above 120kbs. I dont have a large flat, and that speed was measured with the laptop only a few feet away from the router. Surely I should be able to at least transfer video in real time. I am totally new to the wireless thing although I do know a little. Where should I begin my search in trying to sort this out? I have the latest firmware, drivers etc. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

I have been using wireless b for a couple years now. Depending on the quaility of the video, I would think you would definately beable to view vieo over the wireless. Especially since it is wireless g. I have streamed MP3s, encoded at 192kbps with no problem at all from the upstairs to the downstairs of my house, at least 30-50 feet without problem at all, and that was over wireless b.

As Max0d said, you should be able to do this with no problems. Try making the following into a .reg file and merge it into both pc's registries and rebooting, it will maximize your network throughput.

Im running b and i can pull around 300kb/sec off the other computer on the other side of the house. There is something wrong if you can only pull 120 using g and right next to the router.

I have mine set up like the original poster and I have no problems at all watching video of the other computer's hard drives on my laptop.
