If I use rivatuner to softmod my new 6800, how iffy is it that some of the closed pipes are actually defective?? From what I gather, it would be impossible to revert because there is no way for rivatuner to know which ones are good and which ones are bad. Please help.

I would say its too iffy to risk it at this point, wait a bit and see if there are others who are braver first :D

Change the bios from a 6800 with 8 pipes to a 6800 GT or whatever that has 12

using software to modify something, versus the voltage mods, which are usualy hardware modifying, IE, soldering connectors and stuff

also from the little i have read, the MSI 6800 is the one that can be sucessfully done, but it has to be like an early version of it.

I'd wait and see. Or just be like me and spend 400 on a GT. Ill be damned if it isn't worth it!

Thanks for the advice guys. The new rivatuner to tweak the pipes isn't even out yet, so I will just hang with what I got. It sure is tempting though.
