i found some decent deals for a stick of 512 for my laptop (currently 256-256). is there a respectable gain from this? i'm noticing tons of lag running adobe premiere, and encore dvd working with about 50GB of audio and video :) . not sure if it's worth the $40-50us i'd be paying for the memory though.

thx
Jeremy

I wouldnt bother, but that's just my opinion.

going from 256 to 768 was nice, but I think you're money could be better spent.

you could get a 40gig 5400rpm for about $100 and then purchase an external laptop HD case for about $10.

That's what I use the money for. Those external laptop HD's enclosures are nice, no extra power require so you have REAL freedom!

the best improvment for video work that i have found is useing a seperate hard drive for the video files, that way nothing else is accessing the drive and it seems to improve the over all speed somewhat.

ok...it was an auction on ebay so i didn't even bother placing a 2nd bid.

i'm already working with two hard drives...my internal one which is reasonably fast for a notebook drive, and a 120gb drive with all the video. ideally i should have one more, but notebook drives are costly, and external ones are costly too lol.

tom, where can you find a 5400rpm notebook drive that cheap? they're 200cdn aroun dhere.

ebay/[h]ardforums

picked up a new 40gig 5400rpm for $100 shipped a while back. I have seen them on [h] a couple of times since then, for about the same price. check [h] everyday and you'll find a good deal on one.
