Currently on my desktop machine, 1024x768 as it's all this screen can handle
It's a killer to drop back from a higher resolution. 1280x1024 is nice.

1280*1024 . In conjunction with my rather cut down windows theme, ie miniscule scroll bars, titlebars, title fonts etc, I get lots of screen space. Screen space is directly proportional to e-penis size

1280x1024x85Hz @ iiyama LS902UT 19" CRT
What I don't get though.... monitors have an aspect ratio of 4:3. Hence 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc. Then why does the correct resolution for 1280 horizontal pixels (1280x960) look wrong compared to the 5:4 ratio of 1280x1024, which is much more common?!? I just don't get it.

I've always wondered the same thing.
