Need some help naming my junk....

Post by thechemgeek »

no...not that junk. heh. actually, the lab i work is has recently been completely remodeled. i have a few new instruments. they are HPLCs, kinda like this or that. anyhoo, my lab manager said that we are to name our instruments after mountain peaks, then from then on in our lab books and on reports we just put the mountain peak name instead of "Waters Alliance 2690 System 1 w/ 996 PDA", which of course is boring. :D

now, i have the distinct advantage because I have two separate systems, yet they are related. so i'm looking for a couple of mountains peaks/ranges that are somehow related, some kinda of "twin peaks" (haha). for example one HPLC in our lab is made by Hitachi, so the person working on that instrument is calling it Mt. Fuji. Heh. :)

i would love to hear your suggestions!!!!

Spike? Confidence, because you like instilling it in people?

On a more serious note... Everest and K2

Or do what my university did and name them after what they do. For example, our servers were called "Hindenburg", "Titanic", "Pompei", "Vesuvius"... good times, good times.
