Logitech MX500 (mouse) ownz in gaming... :)

I just got the Logitech MX 500 mouse this weekend, and it totally ownz for gaming. Not only does it have 8 buttons (!!!), but it's also dead-accurate. If anyone is looking for a gaming mouse, get the MX500, but hurry, I heard it's not being produced anymore, and the next available model is the MX 700, which is cordless, which isn't all that great for high level gaming.

Wrong! I have the MX700 and it is, without a doubt, the best mouse I have ever used.
Previously, I have use the Logitech Dual Optical, Microsoft's Intellimouse (both, including the tilt one that came with my keyboard), the Logitech standard mouse, Microsoft's original white optical mouse, and dozens of mice with wheels. I've also used dozens of keyboards. (Currently using Microsoft's cordless tilt-wheel keyboard.)
Once again, the MX700 is the only mouse I have ever used that is actually more responsive than the wired (MX500) one. This mouse rules.

I have the MX 500 and I must agree it is one awesome mouse. Sadly it can only do oh so much for my not so 733t gaming skills haha

Wish I'd have seen this before buying the Microsoft BLUE a few months back
It jumps and does not stay accurate at all acros the screen ...
Maybe after I get my Vid card it will be the next thing I upgrade ...

I just ordered the MX700 combo, comes with the mouse and wireless keyboard
i'm gonna hook it all up once i get my new primary system going

I have a MX300.
I was at a LAN tournament, and my MS Explorer 3.0 died for some reason, and I had to buy a new mouse. I didn't have enough money to buy a 500

ive been using mine for a while and like it..but was curious how much of a difference there would be between it and a MX500.

Try it...
The choice in mice is personal, to a certain degree.
The MX500 and MX700 are pretty much identical, apart from the MX700 being wireless, no? I do prefer cable mice over wireless, never need to worry about batteries...
had my experience with that... hehe

The Logitech MX700 has two features to alleviate that.
1) The receiver is also a mouse stand/recharger. It uses NiMH batteries, which are stronger and don't have the memory problem of NiCads.
2) The mouse is more sensitive than any PS/2 mouse and at least as sensitive as a USB mouse. The mouse is at least as responsive as the best wired mouse.
I love it.
(However, right now I have both the MX700 and the Microsoft Tilt-wheel mouse connected. I am doing some Excel stuff for work and the tilt-wheel really comes in handy.)

Actually I upgraded to the 700 from the 500, the 700 does have a very slight noticable delay..as do all cordless mice. As well as being slightly less accurate. Its true. I game with my mouse alot, the delays make no difference, you get used to it. If you upgrade from a ball mouse you wont notice the difference, but if you upgrade from a decent corded optical mouse you surely will.
