Mmmmm...Crawfish Broil for dinner

Ate out tonight, had a crawfish broil. Tons of little mud bugs in spiced up water, cooked whole in shell. Rip 'em open, enjoy!

I had some grilled Mici that were pretty tasty.
Note: Mici is a Romanian sausage. I equate it to being like a large breakfast sausage. I make my own. It's good stuff.

Sounds good scotte. But YOSC I couldnt handle that, I dont eat any seafood except tuna fish between some wheat bread.

I've never experience eating crawfish but from what I was told they are tasty.
What do they taste like? Crabs or lobster?

Another nickname for Crawfish I believe. Yes some use as bait, I think for catfish, amongst others.
Lots of bayou and cajun places serve awesome crawfish broils...just a heaping pot full of 'em boiled up in heavily seasoned water.
JCOS, you know? I want to say neither...or closer to some crabs...although not as sweet. Not really that seafoody tasting.

mmmmmmm..... boiled crawfish.
Lots of names, crawfish, crawdads, mudbugs, crayfish.
I'll you though, the first person to snatch one of those things up and eat it had to be really,
REALLY hungry.

What did you boil them in?
Zatarain's is the most popular down here in the South. Pronounced zat-a-ran, not zat-a-rain, like I've heard many people from the North call it.

Up at the pub last night having some Nacho's and beer and listening to a great guitarist and someone ordered Calamari. Friggin stench makes ya want to puke and leave.....GROSS

Mixture of various southern seasonings, and old bay. Zatarain's rice is popular up there...for those with very mild tastes. For me, not strong enough, too "grocery store boxed" tasting for those who just want to add water. But I've not tried their boil seasonings in the link you showed...I'll have to check it out.

They have stuff so hot, 1,500,000 on the calvin scale...literally one drop in a huge pasta pot full of chile will blow your head off.

Someone who orders something like that in a bar should be shot. There are many things you don't order in a bar and calamari is one of them.

You think calamari smells? Musta been bad, or anyplace you've smelt it didn't get good fresh stuff.
Wanna smell something that truely stinks when you cook it? I'll boil you up some octopus some time. Or fresh tripe! (cow stomach lining)

Thanks....being as I eat the stuff all the time. I'm sure a blanket statement like that would make all the Italians and Portugese in my area very happy. You see, I live in place well known for its deep roots in fishing industry...a lot of Italian and Portugese blood in this area. No bar or restaurant would make it without having a staple like that on it's menu.

It's a different situation being that you are over by the ocean and the people over there actually know how to cook such things and the quality will be very good, but for the majority of the country my statement holds true. You wouldn't order Chateau Briand at McDonalds. There are certain things that you order certain places that's my point. I for one try to make a point of ordering whatever a particular place specializes in. I'll order Prime Rib at a place that specializes in it. I won't order Mussles or some off the wall item that the place maybe serves once a month. To each his own though.

That's true, I wouldn't order seafood in most inland places. But making a blanket statement about someone ordering something you don't should be shot like isn't something I'd agree with. You didn't state where.

Here's a tip for you, next time you boil, purge the crawfish in cold water real well. Some people will add salt to the water while purging, but I don't that it's really needed. It'll clean a lot of the mud out of them and give them a much better taste. You can see they are still full of mud by looking at the water, plus the boiled water is on the brown side, if they are purged better the water will be more of a redish color.
