How do you handle your anger or stress? I am terrible at it. I get the shakes and run when I am upset. Any suggestions?

When I get angry, I compose nasty emails and send them to Norm, for he is the cause of all my stress anyway and on top of that, he needs practice reading English. Mostly he reads Canadian, so my nasty emails actually benefit him.

I consider myself to be pretty mellow but have been acused of loseing it and rightfully so.
I have developed a tool to help me deal with anger and sadness and every other undesirable feeling. When i start to feel like crap I step out of myself and look at myself and say
1) "what the hell is bothering you man?'"
2) "is it really worth feeling mad over whatever it is?" ( life is too short)
3) is there anything positive i can do about it?
... and usually by the time I go thru thease 3 simple steps i find that I am no longer mad @ Brembo , I just laugh at what a silly ass he is.
music or a vid game is a good release and escape for me to. I get to bitch and vent and kill my enemy and nobody gets too offended

I have a list of things I do, each step is a progression in my anger level usually.
1. I start cleaning everything. *mildly aggravated or annoyed, possibly caused by some argument*
2. I practice martial arts outside of a regular workout. *Mad about something and need to exert energy while burning time and meditating internally*
3. Drive around the countryside looking at all the beautiful trees/landscape/animals. *totally furious to the point where my everyday life becomes irrelevant and to meditate on how to solve my anger without becoming outwardly aggresive I must escape my everyday routine* *EDIT* Oh, and at one point in time before I was married and whatnot, I found myself about 600 miles from where I started upon what was probably my most infuriating situation ever.
Lets just say I haven't been off driving in quite some time.

East, I used to live right off of I70 about an hour from the Indiana/Ohio border, I think I stopped and turned around somewhere in pennsylvania might have even been NY state border.
Oh, and BTW, just to clarify, it was before I knew my wife, had nothing to do with her, however I have taken a 3 hour trip to kentucky from indianapolis once after a fight, told her I had to go take care of some things and just drove. Wasting 15$ on gas is much better than putting one's fist through much more pricey items. Which as a young man of 20-22 I racked up 2 dented car quarterpanels*not my car, 1 from reverse spin kick to someone's car who pulled a stick out on me after hitting and running from my car. and 1 car I kicked in the rear metal triangle shaped area behind your window if you have a mustang( of a guy who whacked a friend of mine over the head with a billy club as we were leaving a bar he kind of bushwhacked my buddy as we were walking out, my friend was ahead of me by about 20 feet or so and the guy just flew out from inbetween some cars, whacked him and jumped in a car and started to take off, I jumped and tried to kick through his window (
look at the triangular shaped area to the rear of the drivers side window It was an older model mustang but you get the general idea)
and ended up kicking in that triangle area.
Oh well, neither person ever tried to find me or contacted the polic and I filed police reports on both incidents, told the police if they find the people, I'll be MORE than happy to discuss arrangements about taking care of any issues they may have.
I have learned since then to look inward to release my stress and anger and I am a much better person for having done so. There is absolutely no chance of me losing my temper short of someone assaulting my wife/family.

I open up to people that are close to me. Being close doesn't just cut it. They have to be close and trustworthy. I'm willing to listen if you wanna talk.
and what Norm said.

thank you, its hard to open up. People always tell me how quiet I am. Thats one thing I forgot to tell my dr today when I had those tests done. Being under so much stess it might explain the shakes. As for the running, well when someone is mad at me I feel like hiding under the couch lol. I am this scardy cat. I don't want to say the wrong things. I just try my best to be a good person but it doesn't always turn out that way

I'm normally pretty even keeled, but when something
really gets under my skin, I clean and/or rearrange furniture...my wife knows when I've been upset when she comes home and everything in the living room has been rearranged...

I've known you for a while now Tammy and your a really sweet and caring woman. Never let anybody step all over you and always speak your mind when someone hurts your feelings. If you don't it'll just keep happening.
yahoo is on if you want to talk.

Yup, this is the Tony I know! This is most often my same reaction nowadays since I have learned to channel my unhealthy aggression over the last 6 years or so. I have however seen Tony yelling and cursing about a situation at work though, only once in just over a year working together, but I saw it hehehehheheheh.

Nothing more to tell. I don't remember the details, but Indy is a VERY levelheaded, tolerant person, I think he was just lettin of a bit of steam after some people severely screwed him over or put him in a really crappy situation. Not like he lost his cool in front of anyone, he was just venting to a couple co-workers I think.

I go body-boarding when I'm stressed and need to unwind, or just for some good ol' fun

Its a nice escape from the hustles and bustles of life when your diving under mountains of water, paddling quickly to get out of the break area, fighting strong rip currents, and getting inside a nice barrel of a wave as your sliding down the sloping water. Then after your done, you could then induce some more dopamine...crack open a nice cold beer
I'm sure there is something you would enjoy that you could relate to in your neck of the woods.
