OT - Ram question for steele

in my BIOS it says my RDRAM is PC700. i want to upgrade to 512mb. could i buy PC800 RDRAM and have it work with no problems?

I've never used RDDRAM since most pcs now use DDR. I would assume it's like any other type in that you can but it just won't run at it's optimal speed.

For best performance with RDRAM you want to populate all memory slots with identically sized modules (4x128 will outperform 2x256, in theory at least). Rambus is kinda flakey like that. Maybe it was a marketing scheme to get folks to buy all new memory when they upgrade...
You can mix and match pc700 with pc800 but it will run at the slower as supes pointed out.
