Printer sharing network error

I just set up my home network and everthing is running fine as far as sharing drives and internet access. However, when I try to share a printer from the desktop I get a winexplorer error and it closes everthing down and resets the desktop. I am running XP Pro. This problem only occurs when I open up The printers and faxes window under control panel or when I open up the network neighborhood under control panel. I was able to print one time from the laptop through the desktop printer. I unloaded the printer and reinstalled it but the same thing happened. I even tried another printer with no luck. Looked for updated drivers also with none available. I strongly believe this is an XP problem with my desktop and not a problem with the printers or networking devices.

A friend at work said he thought he saw an article on this same issue in a recent PC World magazing. I look all over their website but had no luck finding any information on it.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks,
Bigswing

I already did that. I do not believe this is a printer problem. I tried to share two different printers. One is the Epson 720 and the other is the Canon Multipass F30.

I got it to run now with no errors. Installed printer and software on laptop and setup shared printer settings and now runs without a hitch.

You are supposed to have to install drivers on other computers if all computers are running the same OS.

Well I guess they were wrong. Thanks for the headaches microsoft.
